Frequently Asked Questions

The League of Women Voters of Geauga County is a non-profit, all volunteer organization. What will the funds be spent on?

We are a registered 501(c)(3) that relies entirely on donations to operate. The funds raised at the Democracy by Design Art Sale will be used to further the mission of the League of Women Voters of Geauga to Empower Voters and Defend Democracy. More specifically, we intend to use funds raised to expand our educational offerings and community programming about voting and other important topics pertinent to our democracy. In addition, we intend to invest in our League operations to make them more up-to-date and efficient.

What kind of event is this? Should I dress up?

Come as you are! We want this event to be people and family friendly so just think of the attire as informal and comfortable.

I want to support both the artists and LWVG. Do the artists make money from this sale?

Artists who submit their works to our art sale have the option to donate between 50-100% of the selling price, retaining the balance.  As a result, your purchase supports both LWVG and the creator of the work.  We are most grateful for the generosity of both you and the artists!

I love what you do. Can I become a member of LWVG?

Of course! We would love to welcome you as a member. And don’t let our name fool you. Our League welcomes all, and male members now make up over 10% of our membership. Please visit our website at Home - League of Women Voters of Geauga to learn more about our activities and how to join us.

Should I buy a ticket ahead of time to attend the Democracy by Design Art Sale?

Yes, we encourage everybody to please purchase tickets in advance via the Zeffy link on our website before the event. It will help us greatly in our planning. However, we will gladly accept ticket purchases at the door, as well!

What kinds of art will be available?

The sale includes a range of mediums—paintings, prints, photography, sculpture, and more—all from local artists. All works are original works, though some artists may offer limited-edition prints as well.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept cash and credit/debit cards.

Will there be food and drinks?

Yes, we will have an assortment of complementary food and beverages available.  Beverages include wine, beer and water, and both light appetizers and desserts.  We will also have a food truck onsite, with delectable items available for purchase!

Can I take the artwork home the same day?

Yes, all purchased artwork can be taken home after 5pm on the day of the sale. Larger pieces may require special arrangements for delivery.
